The numeric patterns detailed on this site cannot save you from your sins. They simply point us to the God who can: the Author of the Bible. He is the true and living God who created all things, and is above all, longsuffering in mercy, eternal, invisible, immortal, and holy in all His being. He created you and He loves you. That was proven ~2000 years ago when the Word became flesh so that He would be crucified at the cross of Calvary, as a sacrifice for all, when he took all our sins and bare them in his own body, cursed, and hanging on the tree in our place. Many people think their good deeds will be good enough to outweigh their bad on the day of judgment. What a terrifying day that will be, as they enter the presence of the Most Holy, having trusted their own goodness and the work of their own hands instead of those blood-drenched hands that were nailed upon the cross. We have all sinned. We are all guilty. We have all come short. The good news is that Jesus, the Son of God, tasted death in our place. Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Cor 15:3-4 How do you escape damnation? Jesus 70x7 in Odd/Even Books - Pattern Explained [24:33]
This is the first pattern of the Golden Sequence (the most simple and astonishing trilogy of patterns in the Bible). When we look at all the pure mentions of Jesus in the Bible (standard – Jesus, or possessive Jesus’), we find exactly 980 mentions.
In the Entire Bible
Jesus* = 980 mentions (Pure) in the New Testament
(No mentions in the Old Testament)
980 may seem a bit random at first, but not if you know how it breaks down:
980x = (490 + 490)
490 = 70×7
70×7 is the exact equation spoken by Jesus to represent complete forgiveness of sins.
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Matthew 18:21-22
Jesus* (980x) = 70×7 + 70×7 mentions in the Bible (Pure, referring to Christ).
In order to get this count, 3-4 “antimentions” should be removed from the search.
Those “look-alike” mentions are not referring to Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are removing them from the search to get a “Pure” count for Jesus.
But it’s not just the fact that 980 = (70×7 + 70×7), it’s the way in which it breaks down: Jesus* (980x) is mentioned 70×7 times in every other book.
In the New Testament
In the Odd Books, Jesus* = 490x = 70×7 mentions (Pure)
In the Even Books, Jesus* = 490x = 70×7 mentions (Pure)
The Odd Books of the New Testament are:
1. Matthew
3. Luke
5. Acts
7. 1 Corinthians
9. Galatians
11. Philippians
13. 1 Thessalonians
15. 1 Timothy
17. Titus
19. Hebrews
21. 1 Peter
23. 1 John
25. 3 John
27. Revelation
In the Odd Books, Jesus = 490x = 70×7 mentions (Pure)
And the Even Books of the New Testament are:
2. Mark
4. John
6. Romans
8. 2 Corinthians
10. Ephesians
12. Colossians
14. 2 Thessalonians
16. 2 Timothy
18. Philemon
20. James
22. 2 Peter
24. 2 John
26. Jude
In the Even Books, Jesus = 490x = 70×7 mentions (Pure)
“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:21-22
Without any doubt, Jesus is referring to Daniel’s 70 weeks (which is seventy times seven, because a week is 7 days), as seen in Daniel 9:24 – “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.”
The connection between 70×7 and complete forgiveness, even an end of sins, is crystal clear in the scriptures. And as we progress through the New Testament, where do we find complete forgiveness of sins? Not in our works. Not in the law. Not in our righteousness, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
Complete forgiveness of sins (70×7) is only found in the name of Jesus. According to the first chapter in the New Testament, this is literally why he is named JESUS:
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
Let that sink in.
The name of JESUS, which means “Jehovah’s Salvation,” was given to our Lord because he came to “save his people from their sins.” Jesus equated complete forgiveness of sins with the number 70×7. His name JESUS shows up in the most printed Bible in history perfectly divisible by 70×7.
After his resurrection, when Jesus secretly walked with two of his disciples to Emmaus, he opens up the scriptures to them, revealing that remission of sins should be preached in his name to all nations:
“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 24:45-47
And even though Peter is asking Jesus about how many times to forgive his brother in Matthew 18:21-22, we must remember the Lord calls us not only sons, but also his brethren:
“For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.” Hebrews 2:10-12
There is a reason Matthew 18:21-22 is recorded in scripture. Jesus is not only teaching Peter, but also his brethren, us, those who are sanctified by Christ and his words, to forgive one another 70×7, just as he has forgiven us.
If you have not received the gift of grace offered unto you through the atonement of Jesus Christ on the cross, who loved you and died for you, why not call upon his name today for complete forgiveness of sins? The Bible plainly teaches that salvation is only found in the name of Jesus:
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
Some scholars claim that the translation in Matthew 18:22 should read seventy-seven times (NASB2020, ESV, NIV) instead of 70×7 (KJV, NKJV, NASB1995, LSB, AMP, CSB, NLT), on the basis that the Greek reading in Matthew 18:22 matches the number spoken by Lamech in Genesis 4:24 of the LXX. However, KJV translator Sir Henry Saville, who was on the Oxford committee dedicated to translating the Gospels and Revelation for the King James Bible, was a devout mathematician who had much experience translating ancient Greek arithmetic. His mind and hand was directly involved in this passage. And given his lifelong devotion to mathematics and his mastery in Greek, it is hard to imagine anybody having greater authority on the subject. Nonetheless, there is no straightforward way of claiming with absolute certainty which number is correct (70×7 vs 77) on a scholarly basis.
Scripturally, however, the context is clear. Peter asks Jesus how many times to forgive his brother. Jesus’ answer clearly reflects Daniel’s seventy weeks, which is seventy sevens (because a week is 7 days), or seventy times seven.
“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.” Daniel 9:24
“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:21-22
This pattern presents a statistical anomaly that defies all logic, for 3 particular reasons:
Firstly, consider how every mention of Jesus (Pure / when referring to Christ Himself) is part of this pattern. We are not looking at a particular set of chapters or books. We are looking at the whole picture, as the name of Jesus is revealed in the Holy Bible. All students of the scriptures know that God numbers everything that is holy to him, and he especially does not allow addition or subtraction from his words. According to the 490th chapter of the Bible (Psalm 12), God’s words are purified seven times.
Luke 4:4 …man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Proverbs 30:5,6 Every word of God is pure… Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee…
Psalm 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Secondly, consider the number our Lord spoke to Peter, and how it perfectly aligns with this pattern in not just 1 way, but in 2. We would be intrigued to see any appearance of 490 in the count. Such as 520 mentions in Odd Books and 490 in Even, but no, the witness is double: 70×7 Odd / 70×7 Even. Yea, triple! Because Jesus also pairs perfectly with Christ for an average of 70×7 mentions in the first 7 books of the NT. And in the gospels, all pure mentions of Jesus + Father + Son produces 980 mentions (70×7 + 70×7).
…In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. 2 Corinthians 13:1
And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. Genesis 41:32
Now think about it carefully: the Lord Jesus Christ could have spoken any equation/number he desired. And he could have decided not to give any number at all. He could have told Peter to forgive your brother endlessly, without ceasing. But no such response came forth. The Lord had a particular number in his heart, and that number was spoken out of his lips. Eventually, that number was written down as inspired scripture by the hand of Matthew. As a result, this number would go on to represent complete forgiveness of sin. Seventy times seven. (Side note- the two words “sin” + “forgiven” are mentioned a combined 70×7 times in the KJB.)
The reference and reason for Christ’s precise answer to Peter’s question is most likely connected to Daniel’s 70 weeks (a week is a “seven”), which describes “…an end of sins.” (Daniel 9:24), but in no wise does such a connection restrain the infinite wisdom of God from also ordaining such a pattern as this in his finished Bible. His ways and thoughts are infinitely higher than ours.
Now thirdly, consider how the result of this pattern is balanced in Odd vs Even books. How can this be? The reason it’s so far-fetched is due to the huge difference that exists between Odd and Even books in the New Testament. If there were ~75,000 words in Odd Books and ~75,000 words in Even Books (give or take a few thousand), it would be statistically average to see “Jesus” mentioned an equal amount of times in both Odd and Even Books.
However this is not the case; we encounter a horribly lopsided balance of ~117,000 words in Odd Books and ~62,000 words in Even Books. Statistically, there should be nearly double the amount of mentions of Jesus in the Odd Books than the Even because there are an additional ~55,000 more words in Odd Books.
In fact, out of the 206 chapters that mention Jesus, 128 chapters of them are in Odd Books, and only 78 chapters are in Even. That means Jesus is mentioned in 50 more chapters in Odd Books than Even!
The 128 chapters of the Odd books that mention Jesus contain a total of 92,487 words.
And the 78 chapters of Even books that mention Jesus contain a total of 54,584 words.
And yet somehow, those 128 Odd chapters contain 70×7 mentions of Jesus, and those 78 Even chapters contain 70×7 mentions of Jesus.
We are faced with an enigma. An enigma that forces us to look at all the other words of the New Testament as they appear in Odd vs Even books. We must find out: Does this sort of thing happen often?
And once we compile the numbers, we find the answer abundantly obvious: No. No other heavily mentioned word in the New Testament has any sort of perfect balance that is found with Jesus. A full list of every word mentioned 40+ times in the NT is available in the Downloads section (between the Title and image gallery). if you download that, you can see with your own eyes: the Odd books nearly always produce much higher numbers than the Even books- especially with the heavily mentioned words near the top of the list. Jesus is the outlier. The exception. The anomaly.
Should we believe this randomly happened in God’s book? with the exact number Christ spoke, as recorded in Matthew 18:22?
Or is there a divine hand at work, showing His wisdom and perfection to those who diligently seek Him?
He telleth the number of the stars… his understanding is infinite. Psalm 147:4,5
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3
…I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them. Ezekiel 11:5
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. John 5:39
The conclusion is simple: complete forgiveness of sins, represented by 70×7, is found in the name of Jesus in most printed and most influential Bible in history. That did not happen by mistake.
God has confirmed the word of his servant (Is. 44:26) with power and perfection, showing the world that Jesus died for our sins according to the scriptures, rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Cor. 15:3-4), and offers grace to all who believe in him according to the scriptures (John 3:16, Eph. 2:8-9, Tit. 3:3-7, Rom. 10:9-13).
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:30-31
